The Combes Museum of Bingerville was founded in 1937 by Master Charles COMBES under the name of the Private Art Studio. In 1994, by decree, it became the Technical Center for Applied Arts with several specialties: sculpture, batik, ceramics, stained glass, mosaic, staff, textile, and communication.
Located in the Porquet neighborhood of Bingerville, two hundred meters from the lagoon to the south, this museum is a contemporary art site featuring exactly ninety-one pieces, all created by the students of Mr. Combes. Like any museum, the Charles Combes Museum of Bingerville aims to participate in the cultural life of the country and to promote the customs and traditions of Côte d'Ivoire. Beyond this goal, the Combes Museum serves as an educational resource for students and teachers of the Technical Center for Applied Arts (CTAA). As such, all works housed in this museum were created at the CTAA.
Indeed, this museum contains no pieces from outside the institution. Furthermore, as part of the Ivorian heritage, this museum features a variety of works including sculpted pieces and paintings.
