THE CENTURIES-OLD MOSQUE OF KOUTO
Description
Kouto is a town in northern Côte d'Ivoire, nestled between the cities of Tingrela and Boundiali. This town is home to a Sudanese-style mosque listed as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site. Built in the 17th century, it has been in continuous use ever since. It is separated from the village by a long stone-block wall. The Muslim communities of the town gather here for prayer.
