Description

When you hear the name Krinjabo, your mind immediately jumps to Michael Jackson. You'll understand why once you've read our story about the royal court. The royal court of Krinjabo plays a central role as a gathering place, a venue for celebrations, and a setting for resolving conflicts and handling disputes among the people of the region. It also serves as the backdrop for the yam festival and the festival of generations — annual events that bring together all members of the agni-sanwi community. The village's popularity soared after the legendary Michael Jackson paid it a visit. It is even said that he came "home, to his village." The story goes that, in search of his roots, the "King of Pop" underwent DNA testing. The results revealed that his ancestors, who had been sold into slavery and taken to the United States, were born in Krindjabo. It was then that he made a brief, roughly thirty-minute visit in 1992 — and was nonetheless crowned Prince during his stay.
