Established as a national park by decree on 31/10/53, the Banco National Park is nestled in the heart of Ivory Coast's economic capital, spanning four (4) municipalities (Adjamé, Attécoubé, Abobo, and Yopougon).
The Banco National Park covers an area of 3,438 hectares. Regarded as a hydraulic reservoir and green lung of Abidjan, this protected area is a premier destination for environmental education.
Its primary mission is to protect the continental terminal's water table, which supplies Abidjan with drinking water. Its key highlights include: 600 hectares of primary forest; an arboretum featuring over eight hundred (800) species of higher plants native to tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America; fish ponds located at the heart of the park; a semi-natural swimming pool and a restaurant; the Governor Reste House, which serves as an eco-museum; and a resident family of chimpanzees.

The NGO Vision Verte, in collaboration with the Banco administration, provides tourist guides, oversees activities within the park, and handles visitor welcome and guided tours by placing experienced guides at tourists' disposal (guides are paid based on duration: 1h30 to 2h: 5,000F; beyond 2h: 10,000F and above. Price negotiation is possible depending on group size). The NGO also offers trail options to visitors (the park has 48 km of trails).
